About Me

Robert C. Ciampi, LCSW has worn many “hats” in his professional career: clinician, therapist, patient advocate, supervisor, writer, and  author. He earned a BA in psychology from Montclair State University and he went on for his MSW at Rutgers University, both in New Jersey. After receiving his licensure as a clinical social worker, he worked in community mental health centers and hospital settings. As a psychiatric social worker, he provided care for individuals suffering from serious and persistent mental illness as well as patients who were dually diagnosed with mental illness and substance abuse. He went on to work for a behavioral healthcare consulting firm and directed departmental interventions in hospital settings as well as coordinated a program that provided employee assistance help for staff issues in and outside of the workplace. He was also the Director of inpatient social work services for four years at the largest hospital in New Jersey. There he supervised 35 psychiatric social workers. Robert C. Ciampi, LCSW opened a private psychotherapy practice in 2010 and has helped clients with anxiety, depression, stress management, assertiveness training and with many other issues. He also sees clients for couples and marital counseling. Robert C. Ciampi, LCSW is a member of the Institute for Psychoanalytic Studies and utilizes a psychoanalytic approach in his work with clients.
